*Remy and *Samson

The Pet Refuge shelter is more than just a safe space. Our facility is designed to support pets’ wellbeing, helping them feel secure, comfortable, and cared for during some of the most challenging times of their lives.

Earlier, we shared *Remy and *Samson’s story; two dogs whose loving human-mum feared for their safety. Our team transported them to our shelter, where they stayed while their mum, Sarah*,relocated to a new city to find a new home where they could be safe, together.

Every detail of the shelter is designed with comfort and security in mind. Pets stay in warm, secure enclosures with heated floors and dedicated play spaces. Multiple indoor and outdoor yards provide sensory play and training opportunities, and smaller pets and birds have their own specialised spaces. Our onsite veterinary clinic provides vaccinations, medications, and weekly wellness checks for the pets that need it, and the food preparation room allows for high-quality meals to be served every day.

The shelter’s location is kept confidential to protect the pets, their families, and our staff. While families can't visit during a pet’s stay, our team sends weekly updates on their activities covering the friends they’ve made, their walks, play sessions, time relaxing in the sun, and progress in training or enrichment. Remy and Samson’s mum told our team she could see how much brighter they looked, and that the updates reassured her as she navigated the chaos of escaping violence and starting again.
